ONLY THE US HAS THE RIGHT TO INVADE OTHER COUNTRIES DONTCHA KNOW

 

MITT ROMNEY, yeah that Republican, ex-governor, failed presidential candidate, very active in his church Mitt Romney, has said “Putin’s Ukraine invasion is the first time in 80 years that a great power has moved to conquer a sovereign nation”.

Ummm… Nicaragua? Invaded and occupied by the US in the early part of the twentieth century plus the US meddling in its affairs to ensure a right wing government.

Much the same in El Salvador where Reagan was concerned about the civil war and the leftist rebels, despite the government and its military being known for abuses against citizens. And it should be noted that Reagan also held the opinion that the then USSR was behind the rebels in both countries. Make no mistake, the USSR/Russia has forever been the bogeyman of the USA.

Putin could give all his citizens free food and housing for five years and the US would see it as a ‘communist plot’. I’m not taking Russia’s side in this, I’m no fan of Putin, but the way the US (and other Western countries) portray Russia as being behind almost every bad thing that happens in the world is just ludicrous.

Iraq and Afghanistan of course. And please do tell me what threat these two countries were to the US?

Cuba, but I love that their subsequent attempts failed and that Cuba has done so well despite all the sanctions imposed on the country by America and its allies.

Grenada, when the then president, Ronald Reagan, decided he didn’t like what he called the ‘Marxist regime’ and so invaded and the government collapsed and was replaced with one more acceptable to the US.

And Vietnam. Why? Because the US didn’t like China and the USSR supporting the guerrilla forces fighting against France's colonial occupation. But at least the US had their arse handed to them on a plate.

Syria. Which has gone so well for the West hasn’t it? Not to mention the poor Syrians.

And so many, many more countries which the US has invaded and, usually, either destroyed or put in place a right wing government, just as they tried in Venezuela. And Chile, where they spent millions in covert CIA operations to overthrow President Allende; another one which ended so well for the citizens of Chile when Pinochet took over after Allende’s death.

Not to mention CIA involvement in or instigation of attempted coups in so many, many other countries. Would be far easier to list the countries the US hasn’t invaded.

And let’s not forget the illegal occupation of Palestine which the US literally helps fund. Hypocrisy, thy name is the United States of America.

What is it with Americans and their belief that they are the good guys and everyone they don’t like are the baddies?
